What is the Global Sustainability Awards (GSA)?
Who organises GSA?
GSA is organised by ARC, with support from regional and global education, sustainability, and institutional partners.
What makes GSA different from other awards?
GSA is SDG-aligned, action-oriented and global in scope. The focus is not just on winning, but on collaboration, learning, impact and inspiring others.
Eligibility & Participation
Who can apply for GSA 2026?
Anyone working on sustainability is eligible to apply. If you are not able to find the relevant category, you can always in the ‘Individual Changemaker’ category.
Can government and private schools both participate?
Yes. GSA is open to both government and private schools across all chapters.
Can individual students apply or only teams?
Both individual students and teams can apply.
Is there an age limit for students?
Students from Grade 3 and above can apply.
Projects & Submissions
Do projects need to be completed before applying?
Projects can be completed or ongoing. However, they must demonstrate clear action, student involvement, and learning outcomes.
How many educators and students can apply for one school?
There is no limit. Any number of students/student groups and educators can apply from the same school.
Can one project be submitted to multiple chapters?
No. Each project can be submitted to only one chapter.
Do projects need to be linked to SDGs?
Yes. All submissions must clearly align with one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals and related targets.
Chapters & Categories
How to choose the right chapter to apply for the awards?
Choose a chapter nearest to your physical location. If the desired category is not available in your nearest chapter, you can apply in any other chapter of your choice.
Are award categories the same across chapters?
No. Each chapter has customised categories to reflect regional priorities while maintaining global standards.
Can categories change each year?
Yes. Categories may evolve annually based on sustainability priorities and partner focus areas.
Can chapters or categories be changed after registration?
Yes. You may choose to change the chapter or the category but your previous data will be lost if you change the chapter or the category.
Evaluation & Jury
How are projects evaluated?
Projects are evaluated by the review committee and if required, by an expert jury based on criteria such as relevance to SDGs, student leadership, innovation, impact, and scalability.
Who are the jury members?
Jury panels include educators, sustainability professionals, subject experts, and institutional representatives.
Is the evaluation process transparent?
Yes. All projects are assessed using a structured and objective evaluation framework.
Fees, Certificates & Recognition
Is there an application fee?
There is NO application fees at any stage of the awards.
What do participants receive?
All winners receive certificates and trophies.
Events & Showcases
Will there be a physical awards ceremony?
Yes. Each chapter will host its own awards ceremony. Details will be shared closer to the event dates.
Do applicants get a chance to present their projects?
Yes, for students, NGOs and Startups. Shortlisted projects may be invited to present or showcase their work during the final event.
